Matthew Brunner, MHS, PA-C, discusses upcoming highlights of the 6th annual meeting for dermatology NPs and PAs.

Dermatology nurse practitioners and physician assistants from across the country are arriving in Tampa, Florida, for the 6th annual Elevate-Derm Fall Conference. The 4-day CME meeting features a “comprehensive platform for attendees to stay at the forefront of dermatologic practice and engage in thought-provoking sessions taught by leading experts.”1

The conference will spotlight advances in medical dermatology with a strong emphasis on inflammation-driven disease, multidisciplinary collaboration, and practical pearls for everyday care. Sessions will cover the expanding landscape of hair and scalp disorders, with Crystal Aguh, MD, and Victoria Garcia-Albea, NP, leading discussions on novel alopecia strategies and real-world management.

Hilary Baldwin, MD, will address inflammatory acne, rosacea, and keloids through a mechanistic lens, while Peter Lio, MD, and Dareen Siri, MD, explore evolving immunologic insights in atopic dermatitis, chronic urticaria, and allergy. A comprehensive psoriasis program integrates rheumatologic perspectives and highlights long-term safety and durability of emerging systemics. New data and treatment frameworks in hidradenitis suppurativa, complex eczema, and connective tissue disease will round out the clinical agenda.

The meeting also integrates psychosocial themes and communication skills, underscoring a patient-centered approach. Through CME sessions, case-based panels, and interactive SkinSync Live events, the 2025 Elevate-Derm Fall conference aims to translate cutting-edge science into meaningful, practice-level impact.

From the Founder

To preview what attendees can expect from the meeting, Dermatology Times spoke with Matthew Brunner, MHS, PA-C, the founder and program director of Elevate-Derm.

Q: How did you and your team determine which topics to feature at this year’s Fall conference?

Brunner: Like our attendees, we are all practicing dermatology clinicians. In addition to looking at problems and knowledge gaps we meet in our own day-to-day clinics, we select topics based on attendee feedback, emerging clinical trends, and expert input to ensure the content is both practical and forward-looking for dermatology APPs.

Q: With the rapid advancements in drug development and research, how do you ensure the meeting’s agenda reflects the most current clinical evidence?

Brunner: We collaborate with leading clinicians, review the latest peer reviewed literature, and integrate updates from recent FDA approvals and key studies to keep our sessions evidence-based and timely.

Q: Can you share a few sessions that you’re particularly excited about, and what attendees can expect to take away?

Brunner: I’m especially excited about sessions on emerging therapies for inflammatory skin disorders like alopecia areata, chronic spontaneous urticaria, hidradenitis suppurativa, and vitiligo. In addition, we have some great content on nail diseases and pigmented lesions updates—each offering actionable insights attendees can apply immediately in practice.

Q: Elevate-Derm has built a reputation for fostering growth among NPs and PAs—how do you maintain that sense of community as the conference grows?

Brunner: We emphasize interactive learning, networking opportunities, and mentorship programs that connect new and experienced APPs in a supportive, collaborative environment. Our new Ascending Leaders Academy launched at this meeting allows applicants who self-identify as emerging leaders to attend our meetings and engage with our leadership team throughout the meeting and the year to come. We focus on helping to facilitate the next generation of dermatology APP leaders who will contribute to dermatology through publications, speaking, and volunteering.

Q: If you could summarize the theme of this year’s Fall meeting in one sentence, what would it be?
Brunner: Empowering dermatology APPs through education, innovation, and community to elevate patient care and our collective professions.
