What to Expect at the Society for Pediatric Dermatology 2026 Annual Meeting

The 2026 Society for Pediatric Dermatology (SPD) Annual Meeting begins today, bringing pediatric dermatology specialists to Minneapolis, Minnesota, for a program spanning complex medical dermatology, practice management, diversity and inclusion, and emerging therapeutics. This year's agenda combines foundational educational sessions with interactive case discussions, updates on rapidly evolving treatment options, and opportunities for multidisciplinary collaboration.

Some clinical highlights include the Hurwitz Lectures by Mark Koh, MD, on histiocytosis and dermatopathology, Amy Paller, MD, presenting new topical therapies and biologics, and Anthony Mancini, MD, reflecting on three decades of pediatric dermatology during the Founders Lecture. Attendees can also expect updates on immunosuppressive medication monitoring, financial updates for pediatric dermatologists, PeDRA research, and year-in-review sessions summarizing the latest advances across the specialty.

Interactive learning remains a hallmark of the meeting, with the return of Sam Weinberg's Cases of the Year, featuring challenging diagnostic cases ranging from metastatic infantile melanoma and neonatal lupus to pediatric hidradenitis suppurativa, rare genodermatoses, and complex inflammatory diseases. Master Class sessions led by Sarah Chamlin, MD; Nanette Silverberg, MD; and Jonathan Dyer, MD, will provide focused practical guidance on ulcerated infantile hemangiomas, widespread vitiligo, and café-au-lait macules.

The meeting also addresses important issues beyond clinical care. Sessions on caring for gender minority youth, social media's impact on body dysmorphic disorder, hair care for kinky and curly hair, and clinical efficiency reflect the increasingly diverse challenges facing pediatric dermatologists. Dedicated programming for advanced practice providers, residents, early-career physicians, and underrepresented in medicine (URiM) attendees will further emphasize professional development across career stages.
