Los Angeles - The Associated Press reports that a hand-held laser may be the cause of a recent Los Angeles office building fire that caused $200,000 in damage.
Officials say the blaze likely was caused by an operating laser device that had been placed on an examination table in a dermatologist’s office on the 12th floor of the 17-story building on Los Angeles’ Miracle Mile. The officials told AP that the device ignited the exam table and nearby furniture.
The building’s sprinkler system kept the fire from spreading. No injuries were reported.
