Elena Hawryluk, MD, PhD, a board-certified dermatologist and pediatric dermatologist, will be a featured attendee and speaker at this year’s Maui Derm NP+PA Fall 2025 Conference from September 20 to 23 in Nashville, Tennessee. An associate professor of dermatology at Harvard Medical School and director of the pediatric dermatology fellowship program, Hawryluk brings a wealth of expertise, particularly in the evaluation and management of pigmented lesions and melanoma in pediatric populations. She will be co-leading the Pigmented Lesion Clinic, set to take place on Tuesday, September 23.

In a recent interview, Hawryluk shared her enthusiasm for the educational opportunities offered at Maui Derm NP+PA Fall, particularly highlighting the caliber of speakers. She expressed particular excitement for Elizabeth Seiverling, MD, FAAD’s dermoscopy workshop, describing it as a consistently valuable session.

“We carry around our dermatoscopes and use them for every patient, and every time I hear Seiverling speak, I learn a new pearl that I bring home to my practice,” Hawryluk noted.

Hawryluk also emphasized the importance of continuing education for clinicians, praising the conference’s diverse faculty—from pediatric dermatologists to surgeons—and its role in driving improvements in patient care. She sees this meeting as a vital opportunity for the dermatology community to stay current with rapidly evolving developments in the field.

While many attendees are eager to explore the growing therapeutic landscape for inflammatory skin conditions such as atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, hidradenitis suppurativa, and alopecia, Hawryluk pointed to advances in tumor genetics as a particularly exciting frontier. She is especially hopeful that these insights will translate into more targeted and effective treatments, particularly for challenging pediatric cases.

“I love that improved appreciation of tumor biology has really opened up our therapeutic toolbox so that we have new strategies to manage tumors,” she said. “I really hope that by expanding our understanding of tumor genetics, we will have better treatments to take care of our patients.”
