Former AAD president, Rex A. Amonette, M.D., received the Gold Metal award, the highest award given by the Academy, yesterday.
"I have always felt a moral responsibility to support the AAD as it has supported me and my practice. My enjoyment has far exceeded my work for the Academy," said Dr. Amonette, clinical professor in the division of dermatology at the University of Tennessee, Memphis.
Service to the specialty of dermatology and impact on the future of science are two criteria for this distinction.
