In the latest Cutaneous Connection podcast episode, Renata Block, DMSc, MMS, PA-C, and Isabelle Thibau, MPH, discuss the National Eczema Association's EczemaWise app and how it can be used by both clinicians and patients.

In the latest installment of Dermatology Times' newest series, the Derm Dispatch, host Renata Block, DMSc, MMS, PA-C, spoke with Isabelle Thibau, MPH, director of the EczemaWise app from the National Eczema Association (NEA), about the clinical and patient care implications of this digital tool.

In their discussion, Block and Thibau reviewed how EczemaWise is a free, patient- and caregiver-facing app designed to enhance self-management of eczema while supporting shared decision-making in clinical care. Its functions include symptom, trigger, treatment, and photo tracking, providing longitudinal data to overcome recall bias in atopic dermatitis. Embedded validated tools (PO-SCORAD, ADCT) capture patient-reported outcomes that complement clinician assessments.

Developed with dermatologist input and HOME initiative guidance, the app empowers patients, supports individualized care, and contributes real-world research data. With over 20,000 users, EczemaWise facilitates more efficient visits, reduces care disparities, and recently earned the 2025 Made with Patients Award for its global patient-centered impact.
