How can sentinel node biopsy, isolated limb chemotherapy treat regional, recurrent melanoma?

New York - The sentinel node biopsy was first introduced by Donald Morton, M.D., from the John Wayne Cancer Institute in 1992 as an attractive alternative to a complete lymph node dissection. One objective of sentinel node biopsy has been to reduce the morbidity associated with an elective lymph node dissection without sacrificing accurate pathological examination. However, it has also been suggested that sentinel node biopsy might improve patient outcome.
