Celebrating the Voices of Dermatology APPs: National APP Week 2026

Throughout National Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Week 2026, Dermatology Times and NPPA Connect celebrated the physician assistants (PAs), nurse practitioners (NPs), and other APPs whose work continues to shape dermatologic care.

Across a week of conversations, videos, and personal reflections, dermatology APPs shared what drew them to the profession, what keeps them passionate about patient care, the mentors and colleagues who have influenced their careers, and what being an APP means to them.

In Their Own Words

This year’s APP Week coverage put the voices of APPs at the center, highlighting the people behind the profession and the many paths that can lead to a career in dermatology.

Contributors reflected on everything from building meaningful relationships with patients and expanding access to dermatologic care to educating others, pursuing leadership opportunities, and finding their place within the specialty.

Their stories also demonstrated that there is no single definition of what it means to be an APP. Across medical, surgical, cosmetic, and other areas of dermatology, each clinician brought a different perspective while sharing a common commitment to their patients and communities.

Many participants also took the opportunity to recognize the mentors, colleagues, and fellow APPs who have supported them throughout their careers, extending the celebration beyond their own individual accomplishments.

Celebrating the APP Community

National APP Week offered an opportunity not only to recognize individual clinicians, but also to celebrate the community that continues to support and elevate APPs across dermatology.

A special thank-you goes to Renata Block, MMS, PA-C, whose support and outreach helped bring together an incredible group of APPs to participate in this year’s celebration. Her enthusiasm for recognizing her colleagues and helping amplify APP voices played an important role in making this coverage possible.

We are also grateful to every clinician who took the time to share their story, recognize a colleague, and offer a glimpse into why they are proud to be an APP.

Continuing the Conversation

Although National APP Week lasts just 1 week, the perspectives shared throughout this celebration reflect the work APPs are doing every day. From patient care and education to research, mentorship, and leadership, APPs continue to play an important role throughout dermatology.

Dermatology Times and NPPA Connect thank all of the APPs who participated in National APP Week 2026 and helped us celebrate the people behind the profession.
