Pointers With Portela: Hair Loss Q&A

Blog
Article

In this week’s Pointers With Portela, the 208SkinDoc answers common hair loss questions.

In one of his most recent YouTube episodes, "Hair Loss Questions You're Too Afraid to Ask," Dustin Portela, DO, a board-certified dermatologist and dermatologic surgeon at Treasure Valley Dermatology in Boise, Idaho, answers common questions about hair loss and available treatments.

In this episode, Portela discusses hair loss after sickness, hormone treatments for hair loss, oral minoxidil for hair loss, the connection between finasteride and depression, and more.

"I have struggled with hair loss myself. I eventually gave in and just shaved my head and have been loving the results of that. I've been doing it for now 2 or maybe 3 years, but I went through every possible treatment you could think of to try and preserve my hair," said Portela.

Opinions expressed are that of Portela and do not express the views or opinions of Dermatology Times®.
