Nipple piercing claims breast

Crawfordsville, Ind. - An 18-year-old Indiana woman's left breast was removed after she contracted a severe infection following nipple piercing, the Associated Press reports.

Crawfordsville, Ind. - An 18-year-old Indiana woman's left breast was removed after she contracted a severe infection following nipple piercing, the Associated Press reports.

The piercing created an entry point for necrotizing fasciitis, doctors said. The woman also was diabetic and was susceptible to infection, according to news reports.

The woman had the piercings on Aug. 29 and was hospitalized on Oct. 14. The skin around the piercing site had died, according to news reports.
