Merz Aesthetics adds two FDA-approved Belotero HA fillers for midface volume and lip fullness, promising natural movement and long-lasting results.

Merz Aesthetics has expanded its BELOTERO hyaluronic acid (HA) filler portfolio in the US with the FDA approval of BELOTERO VOLUME (+) and BELOTERO INTENSE (+).1 The 2 products join BELOTERO BALANCE (+), which was cleared in 2021, giving health care professionals a broader range of HA treatments for facial balancing, volume restoration, contouring, and lip enhancement.

"The FDA approvals of BELOTERO VOLUME (+) and BELOTEROINTENSE (+) represent an important milestone for Merz Aesthetics in the US,” said Patrick Urban, President of Merz Aesthetics North America. "By expanding the BELOTERO portfolio and complementing our broader injectable offerings, we're strengthening our ability to support healthcare professionals with a more comprehensive range of solutions, helping them meet diverse patient needs through a single trusted partner."1

BELOTERO VOLUME (+) is approved to improve volume deficit in the midface or correct midface contour deficiencies in adults aged 22 years and older. BELOTERO INTENSE (+) is approved to temporarily add volume and improve lip fullness in adults older than 21. The anticipated commercial availability dates are October 14, 2026, for BELOTERO VOLUME (+) and December 1, 2026, for BELOTERO INTENSE (+).

Proprietary CPM Gel Technology

Both products are built on Merz Aesthetics' Cohesive Polydensified Matrix (CPM) gel technology, a biomimetic design intended to support integration with tissue and natural-looking results while preserving facial expression and movement.

"BELOTERO VOLUME (+) and BELOTERO INTENSE (+) are the culmination of years of research into how hyaluronic acid naturally behaves in skin," said Samantha Kerr, PhD, Chief Scientific Officer at Merz Aesthetics. "Developed with biomimetic design principles, these treatments are engineered to work in harmony with tissue and support natural-looking outcomes across diverse patient needs. With these two products now available alongside BELOTERO BALANCE (+), providers have a unified portfolio they can confidently use across the full spectrum of aesthetic goals."1

Clinical Results and Performance

BELOTERO VOLUME (+) is designed for volume restoration and contouring of the cheeks and midface. The company reports that the product creates smooth transitions between treated and untreated areas and has demonstrated results lasting up to 18 months. It also features a proprietary dual cross-linking technology intended to allow customization based on variations in skin tissue. In clinical studies, 95% of patients receiving BELOTERO VOLUME (+) reported satisfaction with their results at 12 weeks.2

BELOTERO INTENSE (+) was developed specifically for lip augmentation. The product is intended to temporarily add volume and improve lip fullness while supporting natural movement in the lips. Clinical data reported by the company showed 100% patient satisfaction, with volume maintained for up to 12 months following treatment.3

A Unified Approach to Natural Facial Aesthetics

Tissue integration, dynamic adaptability to facial expression, and structural support are core principles of the BELOTERO line, according to Merz. The expanded portfolio also includes BELOTERO BALANCE (+), which is indicated for smoothing moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds including perioral lines, infraorbital hollows, nasolabial folds, oral commissures, and marionette lines. This expanded portfolio is intended to address market demand from patients for more personalized, natural-looking aesthetic outcomes, especially in the lips and cheeks.

"One of the greatest advantages of a broad hyaluronic acid portfolio is the ability to treat each patient with the right product for the right indication," said Michelle Henry, MD, board-certified dermatologist at Skin & Aesthetic Surgery of Manhattan. "Whether treating the midface, lips, or facial lines, the expanded BELOTERO portfolio allows providers to work with products designed around the same principles of tissue integration and natural movement. That consistency can help support treatment planning while delivering results that look and feel authentic to patients."1
