How Will COVID-19 Disrupt Healthcare Going Forward?
A new survey identifies what executives think could be the biggest disruptions in the next year for hospitals and health care groups.
The COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic has been a meteor falling onto the landscape of health care, but it remains to be seen whether it signals a seismic shift in the industry or just a blip on the proverbial Richter scale.
According to a news release, the 2021 Healthcare Trends Survey Report, released by AMN Healthcare, gathered responses from 551 health care executives about the wide-ranging impacts of the pandemic and how they perceive it will affect management and staffing in the coming year.
The respondents rated burnout and disengagement among health care workers and the resulting shortages as the most potentially disruptive forces facing hospitals and health system in the next year, the release says.
“The COVID-19 pandemic has created a wave of challenges for healthcare executives, with workforce burnout and loss of revenue being key among them,” James Taylor, group president and chief operating officer of Physician & Leadership Solutions at AMN Healthcare, says in the release.
