New Orleans-Excisional biopsy is the preferred method for initialbiopsy of suspected invasive melanoma, but shave biopsy methods can alsobe accurate for estimating Breslow depth in thinner melanomas, accordingto investigators at University Hospitals of Cleveland and Case Western ReserveUniversity, Cleveland. Punch biopsies may also have a high level of accuracyin the hands of experienced dermatologists, they reported at the annualmeeting of the American Academy of Dermatology.
