Microneedling and AF-MSC-CM for Facial Rejuvenation

Article

A recent study examines the benefits of combining microneedling and AF-MSC-CM for the treatment of facial aging.

A recent study in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology examined the use of microneedling in combination with topical application of amniotic fluid mesenchymal stem cell derived conditioned media (AF-MSC-CM) compared with microneedling alone for the treatment of facial aging.

A total of 10 patients with facial aging were treated on both sides of the face with five sessions of microneedling two weeks apart. After each microneedling treatment, one side of the face was also treated with AF-MSC-CM topically.

Skin was assessed one month after the last microneedling session, according to the study.

Study results show a significant improvement in skin remodeling of the dermal structures on the side of the face treated with the combination therapy, while both sides of the face saw increased epidermal thickness.

A more in-depth look into the study can be found at “Stem cell media boosts microneedling benefits” in our sister publication, Dermatology Times.
