White patches and erosions

A 70 year old man presents with white patches and erosions on his lower lip. These lesions developed gradually over the last few years. He has worked as a gardener all his life and wears hats and sunscreen occasionally. He notes that he has been putting petrolatum ointment on his lips to decrease the cracking, without any improvement.
