The research delving into skin conditions affecting patients with skin of color, patients in the LGBTQIA+ community, and patients requiring multidisciplinary treatment continues to grow.

Conversations and sessions about the needs of special populations are now staples at dermatology conferences year-round. The research delving into skin conditions affecting patients with skin of color, patients in the LGBTQIA+ community, and patients requiring multidisciplinary treatment continues to grow. We look forward to sharing news and strategies from your renowned colleagues to best serve these special populations.

In this month’s issue of Dermatology Times, you’ll learn more about racial disparities in atopic dermatitis treatment with Candrice Heath, MD, FAAP, FAAD, who presented at the 5th Annual Revolutionizing Atopic Dermatitis (RAD) Conference in Washington, DC. You also have the opportunity to discover acne and aesthetic solutions for transgender patients as they embrace their identity and seek guidance to love the skin theyare in.

Pediatric patients are also a special population, becausea skin condition today has a potentially long-lasting impact on their future. Bernard Cohen, MD, and medical student Mia Dekel give an in-depth overview of management and adherence strategies to treat pediatric psoriasis. The RAD conference also shared insight to best manage AD in a young patient population.

In addition, we have exclusive coverage from the American College of Mohs Surgery (ACMS) 55th Annual Meeting in Seattle, Washington. The keynote presentation of the meeting explored the role of artificial intelligence in skin cancer detection, surgery workflow, and postoperative care. Our conference coverage, both in this publication and online, of RAD and ACMS showcases innovative treatments and practices demonstrated by your dermatologic peers.

It is our goal to share relevant dermatology news to provide innovative clinical pearls leading to white-glove service for all. Connect with our team on social media and via e-newsletters and email your thoughts and article ideasto DTEditor@mmhgroup.com.
