Statins, fibrates won't help

New York - Cholesterol-lowering statins and fibrates apparently aren't linked to a reduced risk of melanoma, researchers report.
Investigators came to the conclusion after reviewing data from 20 randomized controlled trials involving almost 71,000 participants, according to the Nov. 1 issue of the Journal of the National Cancer Institute.
Twelve trials were for statins and eight for fibrates, Reuters reports.
