Stanford researcher studies influence of mechanical stress on healing
Hypertrophic scarring is a complex interplay among cell influx into the wound bed, environmental factors in the surrounding skin and various cytokine mediators that affect tissue regeneration. Geoffrey C. Gurtner, M.D., reviewed the contribution of those factors and the limitations of monotherapy interventions in the September issue of PLoS Medicine.
