Two comprehensive resources that allow users to search for factual, scientific information on personal care product ingredients.

Here are two comprehensive resources which allow users to search for ingredients:

www.cosmeticsinfo.org

Cosmeticsinfo.org includes factual, scientific information on ingredients most commonly used in cosmetics and personal care products in the United States. It’s sponsored by the Personal Care Products Council, a national trade association representing more than 600 cosmetic and personal care product companies.

The FDA’s cosmetic products and ingredients page at:

http://www.fda.gov/Cosmetics/ProductsIngredients/default.htm

This resource also offers consumers product guides on which products have which ingredients. So, for example, for everything you need to know about phthalates, including which products have the ingredient and which don’t, go to:

http://www.fda.gov/cosmetics/productsingredients/ingredients/ucm128250.htm
