Nutrafol Makes Donation Pledge for Hair Loss Awareness Month

Article

In honor of National Hair Loss Awareness Month, Nutrafol pledges to donate a portion of its’ total revenue in the month of August to the National Alopecia Areata Foundation.

After reaffirming its commitment to the industry and pledging to open the dialogue around hair loss and thinning through healthcare providers, Nutrafol, a leader in hair wellness, today announced it will donate a portion of its total revenue for the month of August to the National Alopecia Areata Foundation (NAAF), according to a press release.1

This contribution will directly benefit the NAAF Youth Member program which helps children with alopecia cope with the stress of hair loss. According to the American Hair Loss Association, 40% of American’s living with hair loss are women. Additionally, 85% of men will have significant hair thinning by the age of 50.2

Nutrafol aims to alleviate hair loss in both men and women with their line of nutraceuticals—including 1 formulation for men, and 3 options for women. The company recently released Nutrafol Postpartum, an OBGYN-developed postpartum hair nutraceutical with the goal of helping women experiencing postpartum hair loss grow thicker and fuller hair.

The safety and efficacy of Nutrafol Women’s Balance Capsules was also examined in a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled 2021 study published in the Journal of Drugs in Dermatology, evaluating hair growth in perimenopausal, menopausal, and postmenopausal women with thinning hair and found to be effective, according to the authors.3

The study enrolled 70 women aged 40 to 65 years old that had self-perceived hair thinning. These patients were evaluated by a physician for a baseline physical examine, scalp examination, and lifestyle habit interview and then randomized into an active treatment group and a placebo group.

The active group, according to study results, achieved a 32.41% decrease in hair shedding by day 180.

“At Nutrafol, we prioritize mental, emotional, and physical health and well-being, equally,” says Sophia Kogan, MD, Nutrafol co-founder and chief medical advisor. “Hair loss and thinning are more than just a physical symptom, it’s an emotional journey for every single patient and we are committed to supporting and encouraging those suffering to take control of their hair health and regain their confidence.”
