Late occult basal cell metastasis: Implant from an unknown site
New Orleans - An interesting case report raises an alarming question:can a basal cell carcinoma metastasize behind the camouflage of a clinicallypresent melanoma? While basal cell carcinoma is typically regarded as anonmetastatic form of skin cancer, Michael A. Del Torto, M.D., and his colleaguesat Washington Hospital Center, have diagnosed a late occult metastasis ofbasal cell carcinoma in a patient presenting with melanoma.
