Immunotherapy evolves as melanoma treatment
In his presentation at the AAD annual meeting yesterday, Henry C. Maguire,Jr., M.D., reviewed the history, current practice, and future prospectsfor the immunotherapy of cutaneous melanoma. The response of melanoma toradiation therapy or to chemotherapy is poor; cures of metastatic melanomathat cannot be controlled by surgery are rare. It is hoped that immunotherapycan fill this therapeutic gap.
