Colleen Cotton, MD, is a board-certified dermatologist and pediatrician at Children's National Hospital and assistant professor of dermatology and pediatrics at George Washington School of Medicine in Washington, DC. She spoke with Dermatology Times to share pearls about pediatric acne and hidradenitis suppurativa (HS), how they are sometimes mistaken, and her armamentarium to treat both. There is no definitive way to distinguish between dyshidrosis, allergic contact dermatitis (ACD), and irritant contact dermatitis (ICD) of the hands in health care workers. At the 2023 Inflammatory Disease Summit in Las Vegas, Nevada, Tristan Hasbargen, PA-C, presented during rotating breakout sessions related to psoriatic arthritis, psoriasis, hidradenitis suppurativa, and atopic dermatitis. Hasbargen, a board-certified physician assistant at Dermatology Associates of Tallahassee and the journal and education chair for Diversity in Dermatology, delved into psoriasis clinical cases alongside James Del Rosso, DO.

Patient Perspective: Solutions for Relief After Years of Pain and Itch

At the 2023 Inflammatory Disease Summit in Las Vegas, Nevada, Lisa Sanglay, FNP, and Lauren Miller, PA-C, interviewed one of Sanglay’s patients about her atopic dermatitis journey with upadacitinib. Sanglay is a certified family nurse practitioner at Thomas Dermatology in Las Vegas and began her career working alongside Fall Clinical founder, James Del Rosso, DO.

Joe Cari, MPAS, PA-C, currently practices as a physician assistant in Highlands Ranch, Colorado. Previously, Cari worked in advertising and marketing before making a career pivot and becoming a dermatology PA in 2014. At the 2023 Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants (SDPA) Annual Fall Dermatology Conference in Nashville, TN, Cari presented a session titled, “From The Parking Lot to Check Out: Tips For a Great Patient Experience,” detailing advice for approaching the patient experience from an advertising, marketing, and health care professional perspective.

At the 2023 Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants (SDPA) Annual Fall Dermatology Conference in Nashville, TN, Douglas DiRuggiero, DMSc, PA-C, presented a session titled, “Psoriasis: How to Choose the Best Systemic Treatment for your Patient,” where he discussed considerations and best practices for determining an appropriate systemic treatment for patients with psoriatic disease.
