CeraVe sun protection products earn recommendation seals

Article

CeraVe AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion SPF 30 and CeraVe Sunscreen SPF 50 for Face (both by Valeant Pharmaceuticals) have been awarded Skin Cancer Foundation seals.

The nonprofit Skin Cancer Foundation has awarded CeraVe AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion SPF 30 with its Daily Use Seal of Recommendation and CeraVe Sunscreen SPF 50 for Face (both by Valeant Pharmaceuticals) with its Active Seal.

The Daily Use Seal, given for sunscreen products such as moisturizers, foundations, eye creams, lip products and more, is used for such products that are intended to protect people from incidental sun exposure. The Active Seal is reserved for sunscreens that should protect people from extended sun exposure.

In general, the Skin Cancer Foundation’s Seal of Recommendation is “granted to sun protection products that have been reviewed by and meet the specific criteria of an independent Photobiology Committee. The Seal is a symbol of safe and effective sun protection that is recognized by consumers worldwide,” according to the Foundation’s website, SkinCancer.org.

“The Skin Cancer Foundation’s Seal of Recommendation carries significant weight in the purchasing decisions of sun-mindful consumers,” says Joe Gordon, general manager of consumer health care at Valeant Pharmaceuticals.

CeraVe AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion with SPF 30 costs $13.99 for a 3-ounce pump and CeraVe Sunscreen SPF 50 for Face costs $14.99 for a 2.5-ounce tube, according to a Valeant Pharmaceuticals’ press release.
