The 18th Annual Music City Symposium for Cosmetic Advances & Laser Education (SCALE) meeting hosted in Nashville, Tennessee, from May 17th to May 21st, is one of the leading medical and cosmetic conferences of the year. Directed by Michael Gold, MD, and Brian Biesman, MD, FACS, the SCALE meetings are meant to be inviting to dermatologists, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, plastic surgeons, practice administrators, and anyone else interested in furthering their education in medical and cosmetic dermatology.

Last year’s conference featured over 1500 attendees, over 80 faculty members, and approximately 140 vendors. In their upcoming exclusive interviews with Dermatology Times®, co-directors Gold and Biesman noted that this year's meeting has only grown in registered attendance.

SCALE 2023 kicks off today with 2 unique workshops, “Anatomy Workshop With Ultrasound Guided Facial Anatomy Techniques,” and “Lasers 101.” Expert faculty members will demonstrate cutting-edge techniques to attendees on correct filler locations of the face and the most effective laser types for treating specific areas of the body.

Sessions begin tomorrow at 8am CT and are divided between medical dermatology, cosmetic dermatology, and industry/specialty sessions. The 3-track program allows attendees to customize their meeting experience and choose what benefits their education/techniques the most.

The annual 5-day conference is full of informative presentations, live demonstrations, expert panel discussions, and networking opportunities. The editors of Dermatology Times will be covering the conference live in person, reporting on numerous engaging sessions, as well as conducting exclusive interviews with experts in the field. Some of the upcoming content from SCALE includes:

  • Updates on isotretinoin use
  • Laser complications and ethics
  • New treatments for pediatric acne
  • Hair growth and exosomes
  • Benzene contamination in personal care products
  • The neurological effects of beauty standards
  • Pediatric skin emergencies
  • JAK inhibitors vs monoclonal antibodies
