- The American Academy of Dermatology (AAD)has issued a position statement on vitamin D, recommending that the public obtain an adequate amount of the vitamin through dietary supplements and nutritional sources, MarketWatch reports.
The statement recommends these sources rather than unprotected exposure to ultraviolet radiation from the sun or indoor tanning, which is a known risk factor for the development of skin cancer. AAD based their position on previous scientific literature.
