AAD announces new officers for 2012 term

Schaumburg, Ill. - The American Academy of Dermatology has announced the results of its election of new officers for terms to begin in 2012.

Schaumburg, Ill. - The American Academy of Dermatology has announced the results of its election of new officers for terms to begin in 2012.

Daniel M. Siegel, M.D., a Smithtown, N.Y., dermatologist and professor of dermatology, State University of New York Downstate Medical Center, was elected president. Dr. Siegel has served as a member of the academy’s board of directors and on several committees, and has served on the boards of the American College of Mohs Surgery and the Women’s Dermatologic Society.

Zoe D. Draelos, M.D., a High Point, N.C., dermatologist, was elected vice president. Dr. Draelos is a consulting professor, department of dermatology, Duke University School of Medicine, Durham, N.C., and is the current editor of the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology.

She is a Dermatology Times editorial adviser.

Drs. Siegel and Draelos will be installed as president-elect and vice president-elect, respectively, in February 2011. Their one-year tenures begin in March 2012.
